It's wrong because you want room for doubles, but get space for double *s. These are different types with different sizes. On platforms where sizeof(double) == sizeof(double *) your code will work. On platforms where this is not true you will not have the right amount of space. In most cases you will have too little space, not too much.

No offense to disc lovers, but this is why I'm glad discs are over with. Loads of discs laying all over the place looks terrible.

Just do a Get Info on your System Folder and that'll tell you roughly how much you'll save. In my case it's around 250 MB. I've actually removed 9 in the past because I never used it, then almost immediately ran into several situations where I needed it back! So I've reinstalled it now, and I just keep it there, whether I'm using it or not (250 megs is better than waiting 10 mins for it to install) :)

SSD's a very useful. The previous post is a good idea. If your strapped for cash, you can get a 30GB SSD and do what the previous poster suggested.
It's really a very useful upgrade, and can be done on a shoestring.
Note: Apple themselves are moving to Solid state. I wouldn't be surprised if the next round of machines will all have dedicated flash Boot partitions separate from the main HD options. (just a guess).

I'll try the suggestion of hooking up a monitor first. I'm currently formatting the HD to remove personal info, so I'll have to wait until after that.

It could mean that, or it could mean they just haven't updated the graphite versions of the buttons/loading bars/etc yet. I would love to see them offer more color options, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being just blue and graphite again. :o
I hope they offer more color options, especially for the sidebar icons. I'm not loving the iTunes 10 UI.

These type of threads are not really permitted on macrumors, however if you go on eBay just type in the model MBP you have, or a similar model of it to get an idea of pricing. Gumtree is good as well.

Agreed. I've been using the "Olympus Master 2" software with my E-PL1's RAW files and it's ssssslllllooooowwwww (like 20s to display a pic in 1:1 resolution). Wondering if iPhoto's RAW handling is significantly faster than the Olympus s/w.
Been holding off on upgrading from iPhoto '08 -> '09 in the hopes that '10 will come out soon....................soon?

I think it's pretty standard practice that if there is a server in place you work off the server. From working in architects offices as an architect and the guy who looks after the server file corruption is really rare tends to be a sign your running over capacity on the drives which like to have 20%+ free space. If you get the odd power outage then files being written at the time can lock up.
Sounds like you've got all the multi layer in place which is your best protection.
I'm really surprised 4 designers and they have you doing it. Most the time in these shops computer stuff would be done by one of the designers.
Oh forgot to say I hope your running a second mini as hot spare.

I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time I went in and am giving them $200, and have spent over $5000 with apple in the past year.
